Matthew Jacobs

Matthew Jacobs (b. 1991) is a painter living in the Delaware River Valley, NJ. Jacobs’ practice typically entails selecting two or more reference artworks and combining them into one novel painting through an intuitive borrowing of palette, shapes, and compositional elements from each. The titles of the artworks reflect this process as well: Jacobs often invents new words by combining two titles into one. Jacobs’ work has been exhibited in group exhibitions at Beauty Gallery, NJ, Fierman Gallery, NYC, and Fleisher/Ollman Gallery, PA.
