General Strike

Striking with Studio Open
01.30.202601.30.2026

As we return from our trip out west for the Open Invitational, a fair showcasing the work of artists with disabilities, we are reminded why supported studios like ours exist: to help build the more just and equitable world we so deeply desire.

In that spirit, and in keeping with our mission, we feel it is important to spread awareness of the General Strike against ICE brutality taking place this Friday, January 30th.

Studio Route 29 functions largely as a community center for artists, and therefore we will remain open. However, we will not be engaging in any form of commerce-our shop, gallery, and web store will be closed for business. Instead, we will be providing literature and space for members of our community who are most vulnerable to the terror being carried out by ICE and the racist deportation machine.

We stand in solidarity with all who choose to participate in this Friday’s National Shutdown. For more information on the strike and how to get involved visit the link in our bio.
